Do you have a missionary that you are committed to pray for? If not I challenge you to seek one out. Many missionaries might not want to admit it, but life on the field can be hard! We learned during our first term the importance of having a committed prayer team behind you holding the rope.
Working among unreached people groups is hard. When working among the unreached, missionaries find themselves in enemy territory where spiritual warfare is REAL and often tangible. Unreached people groups are unreached for a reason. Perhaps they have been historically resistant to the gospel, are located in remote areas with difficult living conditions, have religious or governmental restrictions or laws, or strong spiritual bondage. Think about the missionaries who are following the calling of God to go to these places DESPITE these challenges for the sake of the Kingdom. Our family learned that prayer is ESSENTIAL to sustaining us on the field and for the church to take foot and take off.
Multiple times during our term or after returning home, we have been told by prayer supporters that they were woken up in the middle of the night (our daytime in Madagascar) with the prompting to pray for us. It is very safe to say that there was probably something going on at that time that needed prayed for! It is so encouraging to get messages or emails from supporters telling us they’ve felt prompted to pray for us and did. It is equally uplifting to get a simple message from a supporter to just let us know they have thought about us and prayed for us. There have even been times that people have told us that they prayed for us in specific way, in an area of need we had not even shared. Oh how that ministered to us!
If you do not have a missionary that you are connected with and committed to pray for, then I strongly encourage you to find one. It doesn’t need to be us, that is fine, but PLEASE find yourself a missionary to partner with. Not only will it truly encourage and sustain a missionary, but it will also link you to Kingdom work all around the world. We may not all be able to physically go, but we can ALL certainly participate in prayer! Please, don’t consider it a lesser or trivial thing. On the contrary, it is a VITAL part of ministry.
We are looking for people to come alongside us in committed prayer and would love you to join the work among the Sakalava of Madagascar through prayer. We are looking for people to pick a specific day of the week or month to commit to praying for us. We will keep you updated not only through our monthly newsletters but also with additional emails. We will share specific ways to pray for us and update you on how God has answered prayers. To find out more info about how you can be a part of our prayer team click here.
